Our Year 5 pupils had a fantastic time on their residential trip to Norfolk.
Our thanks to Ms Szumlas, Mr Pugh, Mr Richter, Ms Scaffardi and Ms Craven who accompanied them on this ‘Geographical Survey of the North Norfolk Area’.
Parents waved them off from King Street early on Tuesday morning and by lunchtime they had arrived and were quickly dressed up as pirates, trying their hand at archery and erecting a zip wire. After a delicious supper they were off for a ‘Twilight Safari’ in the woodlands nearby, learning about Norfolk’s wildlife.
The next morning after a hearty breakfast, they learnt some key bushcraft skills - erecting a shelter and starting a fire without matches - before heading off to Sheringham and West Runton to examine coastal defences and beach ecosystems - they loved investigating the creatures living in the rock pools. After dinner they enjoyed a fun evening of ten-pin bowling.
On Thursday, our excited group of Y5 pupils headed to Blakeney Point. They all loved the trip on the ferry boat and seeing the seals! They enjoyed a long walk examining the dunes, shingles and marsh habitats before heading back to Aylmerton for dinner. In the evening they rested weary legs, and enjoyed listening to the tales of the Storyteller.
Before heading back to London they managed to enjoy a morning’s birdwatching in a hide building before boarding the bus home. Exhausted but happy they were met by their parents and were eager to tell them all about their Norfolk adventure.
