In the Spring term our pupils got to meet some incredible authors who visited the School.
Talented author and illustrator duo: Roma Agrawal and Katie Hickey came as part of our World Bok Day celebrations in March. Roma is a structural engineer who had teamed up with illustrator Katie Hickey to create children’s book- How was it Built?. Pupils loved their charismatic approach to explaining engineering and talking about their book, and they learnt a lot at this fantastic event.
Later in the term our Y5 & 6 pupils, along with their Y7 peers from the Upper School, enjoyed a very meaningful talk from Piers Torday, author of The Last Wild and the connected trilogy, about the magic of storytelling, and his passion for wildlife, and making sure it is conserved going into the future. One of the reasons why the students enjoyed this so much was the way he connected his current career to his experiences and thoughts as a young boy, in a way which his eager audience were able to relate to so strongly. Pupils from Y7 and the Prep School alike were able to meet him and purchase books to get signed afterwards; a truly engaging educational experience.
Our thanks to these wonderful speakers for coming in, and to Ms Dulak and Ms McCargar for organising these events
