Prep pupils channelled their inner entrepreneur for the ‘Grow a Fiver’ initiative which raises money for the Prep Bursary Fund. Here's a little video about what went on:

The Prep Bursary Fund enables us to offer places at the Prep to bright children who would not otherwise be able to come to Latymer. In our experience, it’s not only bursary pupils who benefit, the education of all Prep children is enriched by the diverse life experience and outlook of their peers.

Each pupil started with £5 ‘seed money’ and were encouraged to think of ways to ‘grow’ that money, from selling products like homemade cakes and to second hand books and toys, cleaning cars and walking dogs.

Over a week the Prep Garden was transformed into a marketplace, buzzing with excitement every breaktime.  Each day saw a different year group selling their products to their peers and teachers alike, and in doing so, growing their fiver. Our Year 3 pupils were determined to do things slightly differently. Once they had finished selling their products in the garden, they took any surplus products through the underpass, in search of more customers among their Upper School peers.

The whole week was a fantastic success and the pupils managed to raise over £4,000! Every penny raised will go towards the Prep Bursary Fund.

At a special assembly to celebrate our pupil’s entrepreneurial zeal and their extraordinary success, 12 trophies and around 30 books were awarded as prizes to pupils who had impressed the ‘Grow a Fiver’ Judge. He told the children just how impressed he was with their incredible efforts, and summarised what had been learnt along the way.

The children had a lot of fun and clearly enjoyed working as a team raising money for such a good cause.
