Children's Mental Health Week is taking place 7-13 February 2022 and this year's theme is Growing Together.
Principal, Ms Rutterford will be kicking off the week with a special assembly where she’ll be telling everyone about the exciting things coming up and encouraging pupils to do at least one kind thing every day. At the end of the assembly each pupil will be given a gift of fortune cookies with a positive personal messages inside.
During the week pupils will be growing a ‘Gratitude Tree’ write on specially created leaves, something that they are thankful for and then hanging the leaves on a special tree at the Prep.
As well as the leaves, pupils will be encouraged to post notes in the Kindness & Self Care Box. On one side they write something kind that they’ve done for someone else and on the other side write something that they’ve done to make themselves feel good.
New books about Mental Health will be available under the Wellbeing bench outside the Library and Prep School Counsellor, Sam is providing Wellbeing Tutor Time Tips about breathing techniques after which pupils will have fun blowing bubbles in the garden as a way to help them practise their breathing.
We’re proud to be taking part in this important week, organised by children's mental health charity, Place2Be, focusing on the importance of looking after our emotional wellbeing from an early age. As we grow intellectually, we gain new knowledge, skills, and understanding at school, and beyond and this week is about growing emotionally, and finding ways to help each other grow.
Look out for more information and images which we'll share from the week.
