The Bandstand Cup is an annual event which involves the whole of the Prep - 175 children from Year 3 all the way to Year 6 - and staff. Our parents get involved, lining the streets along the river, cheering the children on.
The race starts at the Bandstand in Dukes Meadows and ends near the School on Upper Mall with all the children running together (the young years get a bit of a head start). Pupils love the chance to win points for their houses and this year it was Kingfisher House that raised the cup. Year 6 twins Owen and Angus, repeated their previous success in the race, crossing the finish line first and second, reminiscent of the Brownlee brothers
"It’s always a fun event and the children, staff and parents all have a really good time," says Mr Mills, Prep's Head of Sport. "Due to the pandemic we weren't able to run the race for the last two years so everyone's been excited about doing it this year. And the weather was perfect! After the race, everyone was able to gather together in the beautiful Prep garden for the medal ceremony. It felt really special to have our whole community together again."
