Torrential rain and thunderous clouds did little to dampen spirits at this year’s Prep Gardening Club tea and plant sale! Pupils, parents, staff and volunteers all pulled together to make this annual event fun and informative, regardless of the weather; Guests dodged the puddles on a guided tour of the newly laid Prep garden and flower beds, and pupils drove a hard bargain selling Begonia and Ammi Majus plants. Parents, fortified by a cup of tea and Mrs Main’s delicious scones, entered into the spirit of the occasion with great enthusiasm!
The Gardening Club, created almost ten years ago by former Latymer parents Gay Search (of TV fame) and Nikki French, is so popular with Prep pupils that, as with many London clubs, it’s constantly over-subscribed and there’s a waiting list to enter! Gay and Nikki are inspiring gardeners who have nurtured both the beautiful Prep grounds and a love of planting in their green-fingered enthusiasts.
